Brake Lights in Cruise Control

Brake Lights in Cruise Control
As a brand new CX-5 owner (less than 1,000 miles), I'm still learning about the technology--a steep learning curve! One of the many features I LOVE is being able to put the car in cruise control, then have it slow and actually stop behind another vehicle at a light or stop sign. It's a neat trick but I recognize that's not what it's intended for so I'm careful not to abuse it.
But the Interstate and in cruise control, I've been wondering: when I'm approaching a slower vehicle in the lane ahead with my car being slowed automatically by the cruise control, are my brake lights showing to the cars behind? I'd like to think the system is smart enough to make that happen, but I don't want to take that for granted. Does anyone know?
A simple YES or NO is all I need, but a reference in the owner's manual would be even better! I've been unable to find an answer in the owner's manual.
Many thanks,
