Default Scheduled Maintenance

I am looking for scheduled maintenance intervals (mileage and months) for transaxle (i.e. change fluid), power steering (change fluid) and brakes (change fluid). The manual is useless for that. Does anyone know of a source for that data? I need severe duty operation since I live in the desert (hot and dusty, and wife makes a lot of short trips). The vehicle is a 2016 model year purchased September 2015. It currently has 27K miles and has had regular (6 month) oil changes. I changed engine air and cabin air filters last fall.

The dealer wants to service the transaxle, cooling system, brake flush, fuel injectors, and engine flush every 30K miles. I need guidance on severe duty maintenance. I think 10 year coolant is asking for trouble, so I am tending to do that every three years. What about the rest?

I have no faith in maintaining anything when the light comes on. That is intended to sell cars when the old ones break down prematurely due to poor maintenance.

Automatic transmission oil is not specified, however I would replace it every 60,000kms.
Manual transmission oil is every 100,000kms
Power steering is fully electric
Brake fluid is 2yrs or 40,000kms / 24,000 miles
Coolant is every 200,000kms or 10yrs
No need for engine flush or treatment is service is done on time.
Injectors shouldn't need any servicing for life of car.

I just picked up a CX5 used and trying to read the the owners manual. I did notice on page 6-6 Schedule 2 Severe driving conditions . It gives some guide lines, however most indicate INSPECT. PS My book is for 2017. Agree it is not specific detail and a base guide.

As you noted it is always good to be proactive in maintenance if you plan to keep a car for a longer period. Especially when you live in areas with heavier dust conditions and high temps. Don;t have dust problem in FL, just hot and wet!

Regards,
Jim

All the maintanence information available at owners manual. If you have lost or simply don't have it, there are a lot of sources where you can view it online or download. Here is the first found manual for 2016 CX-5 - on the page #436, section 6-5 there is a schedule list with all the answers to your questions.

Keeping a vehicle in top operating condition is more difficult to judge because of all the miss-information on the internet.
Use common sence....
With most fluids change earlier then service recommendation and keep records of that service performed.
If you have any doubt about most fluids it is possible and as a matter of preventive maintenance to have a sample analyzed.

Hard parts like spark plugs and belts, hoses should also be done earlier then service recommended intervals and even more so if your driving habits tend to be more higher maintenance supported. i.e. city driving/stop-n-go, very hot or very cold climates, spirited driving etc. I think you get what I am saying!?
