Default Replacement of Mazda Radar Cruise Control Sensor (MRCC)

Hi there, a rookie asking for help please!!

I Just bought a 2018 Mazda CX-5 Touring (SALVAGE) recently and currently it's getting fixed. My mechanic just noticed that the radar cruise sensor could be damaged, so I looked online for a replacement but they are extremely expensive and I'm not spending that much money on a salvage car! I took a few pictures of the sensor and I have a feeling it might be working still. as you can see in the photos the pins on the side are bent but could be adjusted maybe!! Also the cable or whatever part that connect to the pins might be missing, I have to go back to my mechanic and find out. Should I try to get it fixed at my mechanic shop or just take it to the dealership?

Welcome aboard.

You have no idea what you are getting when you purchase a "salvage" title.
These units are very sensitive and require the proper installation to work correctly which usually means an authorized Mazda tech/dealer.
Not likely that unit is going to work as those pins are not made to be bent and then bent back into the correct position (see actual pin position and housing in pic below).
I can tell you something you won't want to hear, a new radar sensor alone is $1600 to $1800.

does the car work without the sensor? if yes then i don’t mind driving the car without the cruise control system

Yes, it should work, but you will likely require multiple programming changes unless you like abundant flashing warning signals
Good luck, hopefully this all you'll find for issues.

Thank you sir 🙏🏽

even if i decided to fix the sensor issue later, the car would still be worth it. i got it from the auction for a really good deal. $6500 CAD + tax and only has 90,000 KM on it. it cost me so far $1900 CAD for parts + $2500 CAD for labour. so far im so happy with the deal i got!

thats the car..

Hopefully that $1900 included the headlight assembly parts...if not you better set down when you check on the price

The mounting bracket will need replacing. The alignment of the radar is critical. Once replaced, the whole system will require calibration. Some shops deal with ADAS, otherwise a visit to Mazda will be needed.
