Nice! Hope he enjoys it. Tell him to grab a nav card as suggested above to fully unlock the capabilities of the HUD.

Last night transporting my son and wife to the airport I drove his CX-5. This was my first time seeing HUD and I was most impressed with the graphic that reveals a vehicle next to your car.

Originally I thought premium package was silly but changed my mind and went for it. The HUD is pretty cool and I haven't even tried it with my new nav chip. Ventilated seats is what I was most excited for and won't even get to truly enjoy them until weather gets warmer. Already found myself using the heated steering wheel more than I expected and I like my daughter getting to use the heated rear seats. I would say it is easily worth it in eyes.

I opted for the Premium Package on my 2021 GT last March.

I went for an oil change the other day and they were nice enough to toss me the keys to another CX5 to go run a couple errands with while mine was worked on. I guess it's one of those things I really don't think about while having it but I did miss the HUD when it's wasn't there.

My only nit-pick with the HUD is the turn signals don't show up in the HUD. That would be a nice
addition. As an old fart I actually found myself leaving the turn signals on longer than I wanted.
Showing up in the HUD would have alerted me to that...

I hadn't thought of it but that would be kind of nice. And maybe make the clicking noise louder after it's been on for a while and you're going over a certain speed.

I wish if you're using navigation from your phone it would show up on the HUD like it does with the Mazda nav system. As a software guy I totally understand why it doesn't interface, but it would still be nice if it did.
