PM sensor replacement
Hello all,
I was just looking for a bit of advice regarding a Particulate Matter sensor replacement on my 2020 Cx-5 2.2 Skyactiv-D. I'm UK based, I called 3 garages all listed as Mazda specialists about having this item replaced. Two told me it would need to go in for some sort of programming at Mazda and one said he can just do it there and then. I wanted to understand the process and if it does in fact need to go to Mazda for this specific job, I tried to do some research to further understand. From the information I found online It could possibly need a DCU logic reprogramming, however I also read that as the car is 2020 (September 2020) it should already have the correct logic update, paired with the fact the part that is coming off is the Bosch revision B (SH9P-18641B) version already too. Naturally I only have access to the information google/AI will give me and I know this doesn't mean it's correct information. If anyone can elaborate on the actual replacement process as a whole I would really appreciate it. My understanding that it is either:
A) Replace part > DCU reprogramming > forced regen > reset learned values from old sensor > oil + filter change.
B) Replace part > forced regen > reset learned values from old sensor > oil + filter change
C) Something different entirely
The last garage I spoke to told me if the Mazda side isn't performed it can lead to the natural regen cycles not happening, subsequently a blocked DPF and possible catastrophic engine failure.
Thanks
Daniel
