Callisto,
Appreciate the warning, especially the alternating black/red font. Underlying as well...nice touch. I never said I was using it, however the OP seems to be looking for performance gains so the recommendation was to him.

The response was UNIVERSAL meant for all reading it.
I am actually certified by training in a specialized school and course to be a EFI/ECU Performance Calibrator. I have a few years' experience( 19 to be exact) in ECU calibrating on a professional level and as a small business on a couple of other platforms. (not Mazda) I have also done my own MAZDA (recommend VERSA TUNE for ECU access and calibrating) and know the pitfalls of piggybacked ECU. They are profitable for the companies that offer them. And on this thread that is all I am going to say. If you want to know or understand more about ECU calibration use the search feature of this forum and you can find lots of valuable information about ECU calibrating.

Congratulations on your certification and your years of experience.
Again, only offering the OP a suggestion which it seems he was looking for. I didn't realize your response was UNIVERSAL as you quoted me.
Have a great day,
Vin

Hmm ok , this reads a bit like you are fairly new to auto forums. many of us will respond using a members quote as the reason for responding but not necessarily directed at you.
I based this this response IMHO from reading most all of your other responses on this forum.

I do understand the sarcastic congratulation and am very use to that. This kind of response is why many like myself do not participate on forums in general. This forum is lucky that we have at least 2 very experienced in the automotive industry willing to take the time to help members .... FREE! LOL

I often wonder members that post the hidden slams what they do for a living and if that level of education and experience is shared on a platform having to do with it?

I'm not new to forums just this one, so I will adjust accordingly. As for your last sentence, I find myself asking that very same question.
Have a great day,
Vin

I realize its not exactly a performance vehicle but that doesn't mean we can make it more fun.
What have you done to your CX5?
In case this got lost in some of the minutia of the thread. Berger Motorsports has a plug and play tuner for the 2.5T engines. I'm not sure i'm allowed to post links to outside vendors so just google Berger Motorsports JB4 tuner for Mazda. Should come up. Reviews seem promising. YMMV

Welcome to forums btw. I have a 23' CX5 Turbo that i got about 2 months ago and thoroughly enjoy it.
Regards,
Vin

really minor details.. rolmao!!
Plug and play tuners could effect your warranty should you have a problem and need to go to the MAZDA dealership for possible warranty work?. Most all plug and play ECU devices do not shut off or delete the MAZDA ECU counters. So be aware when you consider these type of ECU devices. Ask the manufacture specifically if they will leave a footprint record in the MADZA ECU.

The best ECU calibration programs are the ones that you first download you current ECU program. That way you have a safe way incase of anything to re-upload exactly the ECU complete program as it was before you made changes. This includes everything like the ECU counters and clocks.

However once you are out of WARRANTY who cares what you use.. LOL

Already went with an actual tune. Not a fan of piggyback systems as its still just fooling sensors to make adjustments instead of making the adjustments and using the sensors to remain within the safe limits of the engine and driveline. Haven't dyno'd it but my math says about 210-220hp and 300ish lbft at the wheel currently.
Got a few parts to get and another little revision with some more juice and should be close to 280hp and 375-390 lbft.
