Conrad,
Thanks for the info. It seems you're saying i can take the OEM card that came with my CX 5 and put it in my computer where I've downloaded Mazda Toolbox and update it. Right?

do these nav updates happen yearly?

Eric B.
BTW I get top quality SD cards at Walmart and Best Buy.

Yes you can. Typically 1-2x a year

As Chickdr19 stated, yes, you can. Mazda has been releasing map updates twice a year and you have access to those updates for three years with a new SD card.

Amazon now has a newer SD card. It ends with L. It should work as well.
Thank you for the info! Do you know what's updated with the L version versus the K? I can find the K on Amazon for $50 but the L version is $65 (and has no reviews yet, so I can't help but be a little skeptical).

My MAZDA service department said to go to <mazda.co./navigation> and download the current maps then upload them into my card.

BTW, my dealer's parts department said a REPLACEMENT formatted SD card is over $300. WAY over! Guess I'll go to AMAZON if I ever need a replacement. jus' sayin'...

Your service department said that? Do you know what Mazda says about this? They say that the only way to update the card is by using the Mazda Toolbox. Let us know how that other method works for you.

It won't matter as you can update any card letter you get to the newest info with the Mazda Toolbox. I would just buy the cheapest one I could find.

Litehiker,

I tried that mazda.co/navigation and got a Spanish version of the website! I would download the Mazda Toolbox and update your SD card on the computer like Conrad 16.5 said. I have been using Mazda Toolbox since 2017 when I bought a Mazda 6 GT. It works just fine.

If you mess up, which you won't, you can always buy the Mazda Nav cards on Amazon for around $50.

My SD card took over 20 miles and a re-start before it activated.
