Smile Navigation

Hi All

First post so please do not blast me if this is in the wrong place or has been answered 50 times before

Just drove home a "new to me" 2021 CX-5 GS AWD (Canadian model number). It has a NAV button on the centre console but navigation was not installed as an OEM feature. It has both Apple and Android play.

If I buy an SD nav card from ebay and insert it into the slot in the console storage area where the Mazda card would be, will I miraculously have workable GPS on my screen.

Thanks

Yes. The eBay cards are 1/10 the price of the dealer and work just as well. Be sure to buy the correct one for your 2021 model year.

By the way, you can hold the home button to switch between Mazda infotainment and Carplay/Android Auto.

Here's one I found. No affiliation.

Yes, we did the same for our 2018 CX5 and it works great, the only caveat is we are not able to upgrade maps, but it works great. I bought SD card from AMAZON.COM, just in case if the return is needed.
Thanks

In my case, it took 15-20 minutes of driving and a start up before the Nav card activated.

That is not typical when buying an SD card. You should get 3yrs of updates with the card. After this period you can buy another 3yrs from another company if desired for under $100.

Thanks Dennis, I'll see how mine behaves when it arrives (end of Jan). Takes a while to get up here from the US.
