But before you worry a compression check is the easiest DIY service to do. You may even be able to do that yourself? If you choose to, I can instruct on how to do it properly.
Hi Callisto,

So in the garage they checked compression and they informed me it is fine. Regarding ECU update can I do that by myself. In Mazda service they said because it is European model there is no latest update for ECU.

All the best.

You would need either the dealership or a service shop that has what we call a Pass-through equipment. What it does is connects directly to the ECU harness and "flashes" or flash -over the existing ECU with either the OEM or an updated version is available. This service takes about 20 minutes (Actually more like 5 minutes if you are prepared) but most shops charge 1 hour fee. And they need to have the OEM ECU information file to do it. It is VIN registered to insure you get the correct one. The only other way if if you had a ECU program that allowed access of the ECU and you made a baseline full copy of your existing ECU program as a back -up. Don't worry you don't it's what some ECU calibrators or DIY that buy these ECU programs to make adjustments in the ECU.

I am surprised however that your Mazda dealership did not at least as a courtesy and to rule out ECU issues just do a ECU 'FLASH" to your Mazda no charge?

Believe me I am surprised too. I don't mind to charge me. Just to fix this problem. It bothers me for months and I am getting tired of this car already. I would even buy software and additional ECU just to fix it and move on. I will call them tomorrow because here it is Saturday and they are not working. On Monday I will give them call and ask them to do that.

The one thing that i fiond interesting is you have not stated that they looked in all the area's of the ECU as I posted earlier. Or they did and you just didn't mention it?
I would ask the service advisor politely if the person assigned to work on your Mazda is at least a factory Trained Mazda Mechanic? Or a Certified Automotive Technician and or mechanic?

As a disclaimer I do the best I can at helping members based on their information and while the best way to find and resolve most issues is to physically inspect and go through steps of testing and process of elimination I can only assume that service professionals would do what I do to determine the cause and an action plan to resolve them?

Sorry just forgot to mention it. I did tell them and I will follow your advice and talk to advisor politely. And I will update you what happened after that.
Thank you for everything
