Maintenance Schedule / Oil Change
I agree. I will do the first one at 5000 miles for sure and then either every 5000 or 7500 miles.
Not good news. Wondering how the 2017-2018 are holding up. I used to have a 2008 VW Passat that I had to fill up with oil in between changes and it was not fun.
How is that not good news; using a little oil is good for the engine. Said another way, the engine *should* use a little oil.
You may believe that, but more than likely some oil was consumed and the volume was replaced by fuel or condensation. If you'd had your oil analyzed it would have told the story.
My 2016 uses noticeably no oil between changes, however I do change the oil and filter religiously at 5,000 miles (give or take a couple hundred). I don't have any experience otherwise, but I've always used the Mazda 0W-20 Moly Oil since it was new as well.
Our 2016 uses maybe a quarter of a quart during a 10,000 mile oil change interval; I also use the Mazda Moly 0W-20 oil.
mazda cx5 manual specifies there's two schedules based on road conditions and driving habits. one schedule has you changing oil every 5k miles, the other every 7.5k miles, with other things to check at various intervals. i would read the difference between the schedule 1 and 2, see which applies to you, and follow that schedule.
personally, i like the online manual as it beats the hell out of the PDF in terms of layout
