Default Maintenance Schedule / Oil Change

Did a search on this forum but was not able to locate a thread on the CX-5 maintenance schedule. Wondering if owners follow the 7,500 miles oil change / maintenance schedule as described in the owners' manual or rather go with a 5,000 miles interval.

Neither, I believe the schedule calls for a 10,000 mile OCI, the same as our Mazda3.

OK, let me double-check the manual. For some reason I think I read 7,500 miles but maybe that's under certain operating conditions of the vehicle.

FWIW, per the manual, our Mazda3 supposedly has some sort of a maintenance minder system which is supposed to alert us to needed service. After the first 10,000 miles the system never alerted us, however, our dealership did the oil change and reset the system. This time I did the oil change and deliberately didn't reset the system; the car now has nearly 22,000 miles on it and so far it hasn't alerted us for the 20,000 mile oil change.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I checked the manual and it says that it has a reminder for the "flexible" schedule which in general is every 7,500 miles / 12 months whichever comes first. I will see if the reminder will come but I will change the oil at 7,500 miles even if it does not. The dealer gave me a first free oil change, so I will make use of it.

Different Markets will have different maintenance timeframes.

In my market, its every 10,000kms ( 6,000 miles) or 12 months

You're correct. In my manual it says for U.S. and Puerto Rico that the "flexible" schedule with 7,500 miles / 12 months applies.

I make it habit to changer between 5k and 7500. I don't go over that 7500 mark b/c well its cheap maintenance and we typically keep cars for a long time.

I usually change mine somewhere between 7500-10,000 miles.

The oil change interval should be dependent on your driving routine. If you are short tripping a lot then I might think about 5000 miles oci. If you do mostly highway then 7500 miles will be okay or you can use the oil life monitor and go by that
