Looking at a used 2016
I'm looking at a used 2016 cx-5 sport with 50k on it. The dealer offers free Carfax, but a lot of the cars I've looked at don't show much on the carfax, just oil changes, so I've asked for the service history as well.
It has 50k miles on it, a manual transmission, and the older style cd player which is fine with me. I hope to get 200k out of it if I do purchase it.
Can you guys recommend any problem areas I might need to check? It's a two hour drive each way, and I'm not sure my current car will make it there and back.
I may have a third party check it for me, and just have it transported to my location.
For what it's worth, this dealer has communicated with me much better than any of the others I've contacted. I work long hours and prefer text since I don't always have time to talk on the phone, and they've accommodated me just fine. This is also one of the most recommended dealers within a five hour drive distance to me.

Any particular reason you're looking at the Sport model? I remember thinking it was very "basic" and felt kind of underequipped when I was looking at the 2016's six years ago. Also, the base model Sport comes with a 2.0L engine, which I felt was underpowered. Having said all that, you really can't go wrong with a 2016 CX-5. I have the Grand Touring and love it. Would buy a CX-5 again in a heartbeat.

I don’t think the grand touring ever came with a manual, only a sport, which I have as a 2013. I enjoy driving mine. Lots of fun rowing through the gears and the 2.0 is fine with the manual transmission. Can’t imagine it would be nearly as fun with a slushbox. Not having all the bells and whistles is fine for me. Air, cruise, PWPL is fine. Grad touring is AWD and must have the auto.
