Liftgate Not Working After Dead Battery
2018 CX5 GT
Was on a week long trip, left car at airport, when I came back I noticed battery was dead due to the Dash Cam.
I received a jump from the parking service and the car started right up, but when I tried to open the lift gate with the handle or remote it would not work.
Later that week I looked at the fuse and it was fine, I then disconnected battery for a few seconds and then reconnected it and immediately the remote and hatch were working as it should.
I'm assuming its some type of fail safe or I just needed to reboot

Test your automatic seat adjustment too. Mine was reset after my battery went dead, although my liftgate was not affected. I've got a 2020. I'm wondering what exactly was disabled when your battery went dead and why disconnecting the battery would solve that problem. Most of the "computer" problems I've had with my car were solved just by restarting the car, which seems to reboot the car's computers.

Good to know we have an official "fix", thanks for the confirmations
I would hate to spend an hour driving to an from dealer and then paying them $150 for them to disconnect and reconnect a battery and then the obligatory "you know your brakes are almost worn , would you like to change those out?"

To add more context to the failure of the liftgate after a dead battery, after my battery was charged, the liftgate worked without issue. However, the problem started the next day. The battery, was fully charged and the car was starting without incident...yet the liftgate was not functioning. I followed the given instruction, and it worked.
I find it iffy that the liftgate worked for a whole day immediately the battery was charged, but stopped working the next day. I guess a power cycle reset by disconnecting the battery terminals is mandatory no matter what.
