i thought about an LED with motion detection but was concerned that the vehicles motion and any movement of stuff in the hatch area would continuously trigger the lights motion sensor and would quickly run down the rechargeable battery. Plus the original Mazda LED light is often okay for my needs so I decided against a motion sensitive light. However I am interested how it has been working for you. Have you had any issues of a dead battery on your add-on light?

I had the same concern but the battery seems to last okay. LEDs use such little current anyways, so even if it were on all the time, it'd probably last for a while.
