Hmm maybe go re-read it. I did not see that but then I also glanced at it.
I can tell you that all auto manufacture service manuals as well owner's manuals are first edited by the publisher and then an ASE reads everything to approve the content for accuracy before they are printed. It is extremely rare to find typos and service mistakes form them.

If you are not sure where you fit, go be standard service recommendation and reduce the service time and miles by 28-30%
The exception cabin filters and for human health reason I recommend at least minimum twice or every season change is even better.
Engine Air filters is more or less also a common since service, if your engine is dusty dirty change the air filter. Oh, and wash down the engine and don't forget the underside of the hood.
Oil and oil filters is another one of the commonsense services when to be done. If you are in a desert with sand or a place that there is a lot of dry dust kicked up in the air then the 28-30 before service recommendation is often a better idea.

I whole heartedly disagree with how they claim (all auto manufactures) spark plug to go 30-40k miles before serving. They may go that long but thier spark energy is documanted and empirical information reduce by over 40% even the most exocti material manufactured spark plugs. The service interval never made sense to me why you would want to see increase reduced power, reduced MPG and other less then positive attributes with going so long between spark plug changes.
And please a few of you that are always posting the exception to the rule have your engine placed on a scope (oscilloscope ) and print out the coil and spark analysis and post it up
I also look where member reside in their signature information... so I am confused about that?

I've re-read it several times - it remains they recommend replacing engine and passenger air filters at a longer mileage intervals on the severe service schedule vs normal service schedule. Is there a genuine reason they do that? If not, it isn't just a typo, it would mean they totally flipped the information and no one caught it.

I am curious how you explain something in the USA 2022 CX-5 Manual. Why would Mazda specify longer mileage intervals for air filter service (both engine and cabin) under their severe schedule (Schedule 2) vs the normal schedule (Schedule 1)? I've compared the online electronic with my paper and they contain the same info. Why would Mazda say change air filters less often if you drive in dusty, muddy, etc areas?

Interesting as it's the opposite in the manual for my 2014. It shows changing the engine air filter at 37,500 miles for normal service and 30,000 for severe service. The cabin air filter is shown at 30,000 and 25,000. Sure you're reading it correctly as the description of whether to use schedule 1 or 2 is worded a bit weirdly to say the least.

ok so if in fact it is a typo then be smart follow your logic and re-read what I suggested for the service intervals should be.

Thank you for confirming it is indeed a couples typos. I figure they just flipped cabin and engine air filter mileage intervals between schedule 1 and 2. Instead of the tips to ignore the schedule and rely I common sense, which I already do anyway, I had predicted kudos for how closely and thoroughly I read the manual. So close I caught errors that even the lauded ASE couldn't understand or catch.

As I said I did not read it completely , it is the first time on a fourm I have had a member find a mistake in them! And yes you are the very few that actually takes the time to read an owners manual let alone the maintenance schedule (that I am a stickler about responding about on many forums) that is given to all customers when they buy a new vehicle.

And you my friend get both my thumbs up pictures....
