The infotainment system in my 2019 CX-5 is very glitchy. It jumps around on its own, changes the radio station on its own, navigates itself to Settings, and changes those! It's out of warrantee, so technically its on me to pay for this, but it seems like the kind of problem that I shouldn't have to pay for. It is a wonderful car otherwise, but this crazy glitchy infotainment system will probably prevent me from buying another Mazda! I wish they had just kept it simpler and more reliable.

 

Has it always been that way since you owned the car or did it start in the last year/recently?

 

Thanks for these responses! I would say that this problem has been around for a while, but has gotten worse recently. It happens when driving, not just in park.
Interesting about the "ghost touch" theory, that makes sense. However, I wouldn't dare try to DIY this tbh. I would be very happy to give up touch screen (don't really use that anyway).

 

Is there a way to disable the touchscreen without having to use a screwdriver? Y'all are much braver than I am!!

 

This is my first post here. My touch screen started having the ghost touch about a month ago. I had it in for service 2 days ago and described it to the service advisor. He knew right away what it was. The Mazda 3 had the issue with 2014-2017 models and Mazda fixed it for free. Not any more, not for any model. Maybe under warranty bit it takes about 5-6 years to develop the issue from heat build up is what Mazda says.
The kit to replace the part in my CX-5 is about $200. AND Mazda wants $500 to install it. Part of the dash has to come apart. You could install it yourself but I was told that the infotainment system would need a software update and Mazda does not provide that to consumers, only Mazda techs.
I guess you could install it and take it to the dealer for the software update.

the only problem is if you or someone other then Mazda installs it and if what you say is true about the software update , you may be better off just have Mazda do all the service. Here is why, if the installation is not done completely correct and rejects the updated you are going to be out more money to have the problem corrected.

You may check some independent service shops and see if they have a pass-through equipment and the availability to get the current update from Mazda and do the complete service including the install. You might save a few bucks.

 

Anyone really wanting to find any and all TSB and related TSB as well the most current TSBs and any current and most current TSB updates is to have a request a Mazda service advise to look up any and all TSB related to your VIN or a service. TSBs should be fully read correctly. Note that they all state are intended for service technicians not DIY. Just because someone can't find all of them does not mean there is not a supplement to a TSB.
alieexpress(the business of selling inferior garbage) has been fundamentally known in most all service shops in the USA not to use their products and almost all shops in the USA will not install those parts on their customers cars. At least not without signing a wavier to pay for the installation regardless of if the products work or not
YouTube information is almost NEVER used by professional trained and educated individuals as there is seldom variable information about not only the content but who the person that authored them. Unless you do the research on who first did the video you are taking a chance that the information will not be correct.

Any and all service regarding electrical components the DIY should have at least some experience regarding the service of electrical components so as to not damage or cause other unforeseen issues from lack of basic experience. Most electrical parts specifically interior of many Platforms require some basic specialized tools that most DIY do not have as one BIG example a Plastic panel removal set, Digital Volt ohm meter, or even something as simple as a mechanics mat.
