Question Ignition or key issue and steering wheel gets locked

I've been having this issue when trying to start my CX5 2019. The problem is quite intermittent, I had the same troubles last year, but I didn't have the chance to take my car to the mechanics, then the problem went away by itself for about 7-8 months and now it's back. Nothing has changed since then. I've changed the battery of both my key fobs. I've tested the car battery, it seems fine. The behaviour is the following, when I try to start, it starts clicking for a few seconds and then it beeps a few times and shows 'Steering locked' on the dashboard. Sometimes, the car locks itself while I'm the car, it behaves a lot like it's not recognising the key.

I made a video to show the problem

What you are experiencing is "often" a battery issue.
You need to load test your vehicle battery (or have it done by a professional) and make sure your new FOB batteries are actually good.

Edit: I would point out that I have already had to change my 2020 OEM vehicle battery and upgraded to a much better battery.
The OEM battery in most new vehicles, including Mazda, is one of the lower quality OEM items supplied.
Modern car electronics require optimum battery condition to function as required.
Even with a high-end quality replacement battery the average life span is 3-4 years.
And that is if you live in an area that has little hot or cold weather.
If you still have your 2019 original battery it needs to be replaced.

As per your description, I understand that:When the push button start is pressed, the ignition cannot be switched to ACC or ON (engine off).
You can view the repair guide on the website: https://mazdamanuals.com/ choose CX-5 2019 ==> Body and accessories ==> SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING [SECURITY AND LOCKS]

Thank you to everyone who replied. I’ve read in several places that the battery could be the source of the issue, so I will give it a try and update you on whether it was helpful. In the meantime, if anyone has any other suggestions, please share. Regarding the diagram you sent, raothuong, I will do my best to understand it, but from first look it looks something very close to what you shared.

Just an update for anyone who comes across this: I decided to try replacing the battery. To determine which battery I needed, I ended up disconnecting the current one. While it was disconnected, I pressed the brake pedal and held it for 5-10 seconds (this helps use up any remaining electricity in the system and essentially restarts the electronics, as I read in several sources). I then reconnected the battery, and everything has been fine so far. I haven't purchased a new battery yet, and it has been working okay for over a month now (hopefully I won't jinx it).

My 2019 Dynamic Mazda 2 is doing the exact same thing. Did changing the battery help?

The possibility of two cars in different places in the world having exactly the same related problems is highly unlikely

I would suggest that members start their own threads when having service-related questions.

Example: did both the vehicles have...the same model and trim levels, the same miles, same operating environment, same exact service history, same minor issues from new, etc., etc., etc.,
