I just got a new 2014 Mazda CX 5 and been google searching to find out what exact month and year my car was made.

Reading the review from iihs safety rating got me wondering which one I have. If you click on "Small overlap front Models build after October 2013" and "Models build before November 2013." There is quite a difference in terms of safety rating. Anyone know which one I have?

Found this: The build date is located on the sticker which is in the driver door jamb. I have a 2013 with a build date of 9/2012 (month/yr). It is considered a late production 2013. If I recall correctly, the final month of production for the North American 2013's.

Check your driver's door jamb---the post just behind your driver seat as you open the door.

the build date is 12/12. iow, december of 2012. that is the date the car rolled off the line finished at the manufacturing plant. the model year is 2014. look at this:

 

Yup! Made in Dec 2012

 

Wow I did not think they made cars 2 years ahead of time... So based on the iihs I got the poor rated version of the 2014 Mazda CX5? If I am reading everything right.
