I have found the homelink on my '21CE only works when directly pointed at the receiver, and only within 30-50'. I use mine to open a gate, so prefer a longer & wider range like the gate transmitter offers, like coming down the road before I turn into my driveway.
Any fixes for this?

 

I only have experience with opening my garage door. And with that I can be driving down our street and open the garage door about 150 feet away. Maybe it's your receiver on your gate...

 

Ditto here, the range is over 200 feet on my street.
