Headlight Auto / off confusion
I have been driving my 2022 cx5 for 28 months now. I was recently pulled over at night for no headlights.
I have driven the car during night with the switch off . Even if it’s off the headlight used to come on as soon as the wheel started turning.
The only thing I noticed was the cluster gauge will not light up, but the streets In front of me were illuminated by the lights from my car . Is it just the dlr? Does the tail lights come on when the switch is set to off ?
If the headlight doesn’t come on when it’s off , are the DLR lights that bright ?
thank you .

ok Einstein. Thanks
In the off position the daytime running lights come on, but your tailights and interior lights will still be off. If you leave your headlights on auto like @ADS-B mentioned, or turn them to the on setting then you have nothing to worry about and everything will work. My girlfriend did the same thing with her car at night when she first got it and you could only see the lower rear bumoer reflectors from behind in the pitch black.
I'm not quite getting this as I thought that you could NOT drive with the lights to 'OFF' as does not the switch rotate back to 'Auto' , in which case the headlights and rear lights should come on?
I've not heard of that on the CX-5 personally. It's just the left turn stock that has the dial switch which you can manually turn the lights through its different settings.
"It's just the left turn stock" Is that a typo for 'stalk' ? If so, yes , that's what we have in Canada, but the four way switch will not remain in the off position, it springs back to auto.
Yes that's a typo on my end. I meant the turn signal stalk. Is there any chance you could record it springing back and attach it to the thread?
