About your "half of the windscreen is dark":
Is the upper half of your windscreen also dark by daylight?
If not, what do you expect? That the headlights are illuminating the universe?
Use your high beams on roads like in your example.

Others don't have this problem so obviously something isn't right with the headlights. Why respond with an unhelpful answer? I am a 63 yo female and I have never encountered this issue in any of my many previous vehicles.

DIY should NOT adjust their own headlight unless they have the proper means of setting them in a fashion that is legal! If your vehicle is in or suspected the cause of an accident and the headlights are found to have been improperly adjust your insurance may not cover, you and you may be liable for damages caused by the misaligned head lights.

99% of individual (DIY or owners of vehicles) almost since adjustable headlight were conceived adjust them incorrectly.

When you have them on driving lights and on coming vehicles start flashing their headlights, remember these responses!

Sorry?

I'm here to help and give free advice (for what it's worth, but Callisto can have his own opinion about that).
You may not find my response very friendly, but I'm not someone who buys a used car without seeing it in the flesh and without taking a test drive...

I advised you to have your low beam checked in a garage that takes its customers seriously. I showed you that all Mazda headlights are adjustable, just like in my car.

What more can you expect from me?

I seldom give an opinion unless I actually write IMHO or IMHO . And like you they are for free. At least on this forum on another social media I actually get paid for auto related information such as servicing advise.

I agree somewhat about buying a vehcle blindly.

I also agree and support finding a Safety inspection service center or a service shop that has the proper headlight aiming and adjustment equipment and the garage is set up to adjust them.
