Hello, My first post on the forum and hoping someone can help. Driving home from work in my cx5 2.2 2013, pulled up at a roundabout and the dashboard lights came on and the engine had stopped. Couldn't turn it over so had it recovered to my usual garage who said they had done a number of cx5s. Their opinion was that the timing chain had skipped a tooth so changed the exhaust cam which was scoured, the rockers, timing chain and followers. Although they said that the original timing chain was tight and hadn't skipped. They have since struggled to get any compression and pretty much abandoned the job leaving me to take it to the main agents who are short staffed and very busy. They have had a look at it but as work has been done by third party are not sure if the work they have done has contributed to the problem. They say the scoured cam wouldn't cause the engine to cut out and not start. Would anyone know what reasons the engine would just cut out and not turn over? The fuel is deisel so not misfuelled and the car had been serviced about 1000miles ago. Any help would be welcome.
