Default Do I have to get the roof rack?

I hate roof racks, they make it harder to wax roof, cause a minute amount of drag, spoil the lines plus I never used the one on my jetta.
Yet, every $&$* CX5 for sale within 200 miles has a roof rack on it.
I really don't want to spend $200 on something I don't want. Is this something you can tell a dealer to just remove and take a $200 savings on the price of the car?
On the other hand, I want remote start and none of the cars in my region have that.

So order a car from the factory and wait a couple of months for it.

if they had a car without the rails in a color you didn't want you might be able to convince them to swap the rails onto that car. Otherwise it would likely be harder to convince them to give you a discount for removing it since they'd have the labor of removing it and would also have to order new trim for that area as the rails require the inserts to be in different pieces so the rails can attach between them.

If I do that, I can't get the .9% five year financing.

Then look farther than 200 miles; I traveled almost 600 to get what I wanted last year.

I purposely purchased my 2013 CX-5 without a roof rack, which is exactly how I wanted it.

A rack is useful to some owners, most CX-5 owners will never use one. It's nice that Mazda gives buyers a choice. I like the fact that CX-5 is one of the most aerodynamic compact SUVs available today, without roof racks/crossbars, hood protectors, fender flares, stick-on window visors, aftermarket large mudflaps, etc.

My '03 Jetta wagon has a roof rack and in the 11 years that I have owned it, I have yet to use it.
I see no reason to think I'd use one on a CX5.

I had one on my last 2 SUVs (Jeep Liberty and Ford Explorer), never got used. CX-5 is more aerodynamic and sleeker looking without.
