According to my data, the rear differential Takes Castrol EPX 80w90

The transmission fluid IMHO (based on servicing hundreds of transmission) should be changed at least at the 50k mark. Mazda claims that the service life is "lifetime" however oil analysis shows that the fluid does in fact needs servicing in many cases at least 50-80k miles.
If you are in doubt and simply feel "lucky" don't do the preventative maintenance. You can also get a small amount of oil from the dip stick area and send it in and have it analyzed. then you would know for sure what to do!
Unless members have had an oil analysis performed most responses will be speculation to the condition of their oil and internal condition of parts , without inspection with a service fluid/filter change and analysis of oil to check any damage starting to become present which in most cases can be found in the oil within the transmission.

I think if you go re-read all my responses not only do they apply because last time I looked front-wheel-drive vehicles will have a front differential. Many DIY call them that but the information for servicing applies to both?
As for the other comment of mine.... less informed people still think that the numbers on oil less accurately represent thicker and thinner... this is always funny to me and points out those that really have no real clue about oils!

Dennis sure they can the miles but not without damage.. Your responses are entertaining at times not to consider preventive maintenance and now where in the world did you now go from your opinion to a service to posting as if it is now a schedule. ROLMAO!
I really feel sorry for those that follow your advise....

If you don't think that an 85W-140 gear oil isn't 'thicker' than a 75W-90,
explain what those numbers mean. The first is indeed thicker than the 75-90.
No one has yet had a problem with my advise.
It may not meet your self important level of knowledge, but it works just the same.
My 2¢

Can you please show reference to where you got this grade of oil for a CX-5 rear differential?
Any other members being offered "differential service" by dealers? My gf went into dealer for oil change and they offered to change the rear differential fluid for $110. I asked to her to point out in the service schedule where that was recommended. They couldn't. Anybody know anything about this that I may not?
