I have a CX5 2018. On my settings menu, safety submenu, I only have two settings available:

• Smart City Brake Support
• Parking Sensor Indicator

Is there a way to buy / upgrade / unlock / retrofit more safety features? For example:

• High Beam Control System (HBC)
• Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH)
• Driver Attention Alert (DAA)
• Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
• Traffic Sign Recognition System (TSR)
• Advanced Smart City Brake Support (Advanced SCBS)
• Smart City Brake Support [Forward] (SCBS F)

Those features use the already installed Forward Sensing Camera behind the rear-view mirror, I wonder if I can simply pay for them at a dealership or enable/unlock them somehow.

 

There is a separate radar sensor on certain trims from 17+. There are versions of CX-5s with and without it, you can tell by the front emblem.

It's a separate package called i-activsense, now standard.

So you would need a new grille and radar assembly and the relevant vehicle programming; it would be an expensive proposition.

 

According to the manual none of the features I mentioned use the front radar sensor

 

I contacted my local dealership and they have no idea what I'm talking about, I guess my next step is corporate.

There is either HBC or ALH, not both.
HBC have 4 blocks LED, ALH have 20 blocks LED which can be turned on or off independently.

I previously had a 2020 CX-5 GT and wished I had gotten the premium package with the ventilated front seats. We have ventilated front seats now. In the 2021 CX-5 Signature we traded the 2020 for.

If there are features you want you need to get them when you purchase the vehicle. I doubt there are any dealers who would even entertain a request to add features not already included. And if they did, it would likely cost you more than if you just went out and got a CX-5 with the stuff you want.
