Spoiler

Our was manual, Mazda charged us £600 for snapped gear selector cable replacement. Inquired about Mazda possibly contributing towards the cost but was told they wouldn’t as the car was 1 month over 5 years old 😂 49k at the time

Default 2019 CX-5 Manual gear selector snapped- group claim needed?

Not sure what you guys think whether watchdog or Martin Lewis or some sort of trading standard claim should be raised by all of us .Hi guys, we live in the UK. Have a 2019 CX-5. Very disappointed from a so-called reliable Japanese manufacturer Our gear selector cable has snapped at only 32,000 Miles, Mazda UK would not take responsibility, And conveniently the garage that we bought it from has now left Mazda and opened up in a new name and they were all useless. When we rang all the mazdas in South London they had no availability to fix it or a courtesy car so we had to go private to the garage we trusted. This is a manufacturing fault and we all should be getting together as a group claim against Mazda. The part that we had to get for Mazda we were told is an upgraded cable and you can see from the thickness that it was improved after manufacturer. So it is a fault that needs to be rectified by a recall and anyone who is paid out like us to have it repaired should be compensated.

Did you have any reimbursement from the claim? I think we all need to do this as a group claim who have had the same problems

Mine went @ 22k miles, 5 years old; in my lifetime with various car makers, never had this issue.
Fortunately, I had taken out RAC Extended Warranty, so was paid for by them

Thank you for telling us you had an issue. You were lucky yours was covered under RAC warranty, but just more proof that these manufactured cables are not fit for purpose

Sorry to hear about this problem. I hope you get it resolved quickly/easily.

I'll ask again: Are these shifter cable problems on cars with auto or manual transmissions?
