Doesn't surprise me that digging around under there would be several hundred shekels.

My reason for asking is that my own CX-5 will soon be approaching 100Kmi and this sort of thing will be one of the items I add to the list for checking, to keep ahead of the maintenance curve.
Would definitely get it looked at. My cables have snapped twice in the past 10 months. Under warranty the first time but out of warranty now. Mazda rang so say they would see about the possibility of a discount as a "courtesy" since the same job was done within the past year but I'm not very optimistic.

Mazda didn't believe me when I rang to tell them it had happened a second time. They told me to bring it in to see if it was something else because it's something they almost never see. He said if I was unlucky enough to have it happen once, it was extremely unlikely it would have happened a second time. They confirmed it today though.

Anyone experience this problem?
Very disappointing with such a new car.
I have a 2017 CX-5 and this happen to me last week only 48k on the clock

SNAP, my 2017 CX5 with 48.5k miles on the clock snapped a gear cable last week, stuck in 5th gear at the time, managed to get it the 10 miles home with only having to stop once and dropped it off at my independent garage around the corner from me. £190 + vat for the replacement cables from Mazda, labour on top. Spoken to Mazda and I have to do a retrospective claim with Mazda UK, will likely re-imburse 50-60% of the repair cost. Not something I wish to repeat regularly!!
