Default Cx 5 engine starts but then stops

Hi,
I just went to get into my CX 5 (2012) and when I press the start button it kicks over but then stops immediately.

I tried it time and time again and the same things happened.

Help!

Matt

Auto or Manual transmission? Have you tried both remotes in the vehicle?

First off, is the vehicle still under warranty? Before you expend money finding the cause of your issue, have it done under warranty.
If not under warranty, then you can try a few things. The car needs spark and fuel to run. My money is on a fuel pump or fuel filter issue. The cheap(er) fix is the fuel filter. If it's the fuel pump, cars with residual fuel in their lines will run for a few seconds and quit without an active fuel pump. I don't know about the CX-5, but most fuel injected motors have a "plug" or "tap" on the fuel rail for a fuel pressure gauge. By connecting the gauge and turning the key, the gauge will tell you if you have fuel pressure or not. On my F350, it should be 33 psi +/-. I don't know what the CX-5 pump is supposed to be. But my guess is you have a fueling issue.

Fuel pressure in the CX5 is very very high - direct injection. Be very very careful.

If so, then it must also translate to "very very expensive". I thought this vehicle had two fuel pumps. One in the tank and a high pressure fuel pump for the injectors (ala diesel)? I haven't had time to look at schematics yet. Only had this vehicle for 2 weeks. The one in the tank should be much less expensive and of much lower pressure if indeed it has failed.
