Default CX-5 Drove without fob even after ignition turned off was able to restart.

Okay, very long story short. I was able to start my CX-5 (2022) drive to the store, shop, start it back up and come home to find my fob sitting on the kitchen counter. The other key is in my Mazda file in the cabinet so I didn’t have that so what happened? Anybody know? The only thing I can think of is that I have the app on my phone that allows me to remotely start the car and lock and unlock, but is it also recognized as a fob. My car should not have started back up after I turned it off without my fob.

Remote start turns the car off when the door is unlocked. Maybe you left the car running and forgot?

Dif you accidentally leave the other fob in the vehicle?

It doesn't seem possible this could have happened. Have you attempted to do it again?

The OP hasn’t been back to the forum in three days - doesn’t seem too anxious to get an answer. Hit-and-run poster?

Toyota and others have application called Remote Connect to allow users to start the vehicle from an application installed on their smartphones or smart watches. In this way, they don’t have to use a key fob every time to remote start their vehicles. I'm assuming Mazda has the same thing.
But then I drove a used Honda for over a year before I realized it had remote start, accidently hit it instead of the lock one day going into work.

My Jeep has that feature, but it won't allow the vehicle to be driven unless the fob is present. The first thing the remote start does on it is lock the doors. When you unlock them and get in the vehicle, it won't go into gear unless the fob is present and you press the start button (even though the engine is already running). I would think that Mazda and other manufacturers would have similar protection, but, who knows.
