Default CX-5 2021 - Add-A-Circuit / Add-A-Fuse

Hi,

I have been trying to hardwire a dash cam into a cx-5 GT 2021. However, the driver side fuse panel has Low Profile Mini Fuses that sit in a recessed fuse box. I have tried 5 different add-a-circuits and all of them don't fit snug / tight. They are loose so much that a simple bump will make it fly out. I tried both mini fuse taps and mini low profile fuse taps. None of them sit well or tight. Extremely loose.

Any of you found one that works?

Here is the ones I tried thus far and all don't work at all:

-
Amazon Amazon
-
Amazon Amazon
-
Amazon Amazon

I also tried Bussmann Low Profile ATP LP taps. Garbage.

Thank you

you could add some solder to the adapter, bend the adapter pin or try to close up the fuse socket.
I used this :
Amazon Amazon
to add a switch to the side kick panel (in which the fuse door is attached to disable the rear lift gate when I have bikes on the back). Not as secure as the fuse but it fits and is tight enough to prevent falling out. Not quite what you are looking for, but should work.

To mitigate risk to another circuit, you could test an empty slot to see if it has power. Also check to see if it not some part of the plastic shoulders that prevent full insertion. That one designed for low profile should work, but the non-low profile fuses do fit.

Default Same problems here. Will not hold.

I have had a tech. Try three brands and none worked. He said that he never had this problem in 15 years of experience. He suggested to add a fuse box right off the battery.

Hey y'all - I have a dashcam (Garmin Mini 2) setup in my 2021 CX-5, but ended up tapping into the power going to rearview mirror using an aftermarket adapter by "Dongar Technologies"
Posted an install vid on YouTube. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions

I'm trying to do the same with my 3 and cx9 and the problem appears to be the clips that go over the corners of the low profile fuses. The wider female body part of the adapter hits those clips and the male part never seats deep enough. I trimmed away a section of the body of the adapter and found that it seats much better. I'm going to try and cut a small recess into the body to see if can make the clips from the fuse box work to hold the adapter in even better.
