remove the backseat headrest with a push of the button. makes a world of difference for visibility.

my old 2005 c240 had this option which was really nice, but even in my US-spec 2017 cx5, they don't fold automatically

Yes, for 2017 they did extensive sound proofing and thicker glass is part of that solution.
