Default cv joints common problem on 2014 model year???

i've got this noise. sounds sorta like something rubbing on the wheel while moving (its bit more prominent while turning left). so i jacked up the car and took the wheel off, i didn't see anything incredibly obvious but when i hand turn the wheel hub, the cv joint makes a bit of a creaking noise. the boot isn't split open or leaking or anything, but isn't it supposed to be silent? i'd hate to buy a new one if its pefectly normal.

Are you sure it's the joint on the axle shaft creaking? They don't normally creak. Try rotating the rotor back and forth to see if there is any slop in the universal joint on the axle. Usually, and I say usually when you turn to the left, you are increasing the load on the right wheel bearing. Tracing sounds can be really frustrating as they travel along metal frame members. If you have the capability, both in experience and tools, I'd jack the front end up, put it on jack stands, pull both wheels and inspect both sides.

I'm getting increasing noise from my front end going down the road and much louder when I brake. I suspect my wheel bearings are going south. I have new bearings but I'm not going to replace them until I'm sure they are the problem. When you raise your car and remove the wheels, you may find something else, like a dust shield, has come loose.

there's a definite possibility there for the wheel bearing. i dunno, i don't trust my own abilities and i'm not about to just buy parts until i get the right one, so i just dropped it off at the mechanic 🤷‍♂️
