CV joint noise only when cold(?)
Hi,
EDIT: Withour pulling the driveshaft off the car I opened up the large side of the inner CV boot and liquid grease started flowing out onto my hand (car an engine cold). About the consistency of semi-clotted cream. Am I right in thinking it should not be this liquid?! It didn't look emulsified either - didn't look like there was water in it and boot is in extremely good condition.
I've only had my 6 for about a month and it's started making a noise. When I start going in the morning there is a clicking from the front right (drivers) side when power is applied or removed from the front right wheel. The noise goes away after about 5 minutes of driving. One morning I let my car idle for about 10 minutes before getting in and driving and the noise didn't happed at all - proving that it is warmth rather than, say, a CV joint distributing the lube within it evenly. After driving if I feel the axle it is warm till the inner CV joint but I can't say the outer CV joint is warm at all. So probably an inner CV?
I wonder if anyone can shed any light....
Thanks,
Simon
