Creaking /popping
2018 cx-5 AWD 2.5
creaking, popping over small bumps and when performing low-speed turning maneuvers, (parking, making right or left turns at intersections) particularly when on the brakes and even worse when going downhill while braking and making left or right turns. Can be felt in the steering wheel and even if I put my hand on top of the shifter.
Does NOT make the sound when going uphill at any speed and not much sound replicated when in park as well.
I lubed the control arm bushings, outer tie rod ends, the ball joints, tops of the struts, sway bar linkage and bushings. Made no difference.
any advice? TIA

Your Mazda needs to be inspected up on a drop hoist where the suspension drops free.
Because you either did want to or in a hurry ..fill more member info it’s harder to make guesses based on your operating environment which is important with concerns like yours.
Also you left out important service information about your Mazda.
Think of this way when asking help on a forum, as if your were talking to a service writer and they filled in your basic vehicle information.

Done. Also, use a lot of bumpy roads etc. cause pa roads are terrible.
i do know what I’m doing somewhat, which is why i attacked the suspension first, because it really sounds like a binding bushing.
i had the car on stands and checked the bearings as well. No noticeable wiggle.
service history: reflashed trans computer (it was shifting really hard and still knocks a bit into first when coming to a stop), new evap canister and solenoid, FYI My daughter did hit a curb pretty hard a couple months ago when practicing parallel parking.

The downshift feels at times when coming to a slowdown is from you not completely stopping. It will not harm the transmission and is normal
I would be careful not to use any product that is petroleum or solvent based on bushings it will not only cause the bushing to become nosier quicker but also deteriorate them thus shortening their service life. n

Try a DIY method of testing.... with your garden hose spray down everything and while it is wet see if the sound diminishes or goes away completely. This will help locate the noise because as the water dries the sound will return with a slightly different tone and may be easier to pinpoint.
