Default "Corrupted" SD card for 2017 CX5

Hey everyone !! I thought maybe I could get some answers here. Recently my infotainment went all funky. The dealership said my SD card was corrupted all of the sudden and said it would be $500 for a new one. That seems like a scam to me. are there any cheaper viable solutions for my 2017 CX5?

If you haven't backed up the card, you may have to get a new one. You could try putting it an SD card slot on your Windows computer and running chkdsk on it to see if it can remedy the problem. You might want to run chkdsk without the /f parameter initially just to make sure it will read the card format properly before taking the chance on fixing it.

I back up my SD cards as soon as I get them and periodically after that. My OEM SD card died (nothing could fix it or even read it) a couple of years ago, so I got a 16 gig SD card that I had sitting around and restored the backup. It's been working just fine ever since and updates just like OEM.

When you update your maps, the App asks you to store a back up on your PC.
Hopefully you didn't ignore that option, so get a new quality SD card, with fast write capability;
then open up the App, with new SD, and choose the restore option.

This is the URL we use in UK; yours will be different.

I back up new cards using NovaStor and keep the back up in a safe place. I actually try to do that before the card is linked to the car. After that initial backup, I use the TomTom update program (mine is a 2014 vehicle) and back up after every update. I've had to use the backup a couple of times to fix things, but only the one time for a totally corrupted and irreparable card.
