Connected Services
I have a new CX-5 Preferred. What I'm concerned about is the vehicle asking at each start up to Connect to the connected services. After talking to Customer Service and the Dealership This is what I'm told. If you don't connect up, the vehicle will keep asking forever. When you do check the block for it to connect up, then you will have to download the My Mazda app on your phone and put in all the required information. Afterwards, you will have a few extra benefits such as remote starting etc. What I have found out is along with those limited time extra benefits the vehicle will, and I repeat will, send in the vehicle's mileage and mechanical status to the dealer and Mazda, along with that, it will also send to Mazda any information about your with driving habits. If you have a factory map (I don't know about the CarPlay map) any speeds, stops and such will be sent. This information is then sold or sent to who knows where, so that insurance companies can attain it. This concerns me, so I deleted the app, cancelled my online account and now I'm stuck with not being able to view the radio or anything else on the screen until I answer the question, whether to connect to the connected services or not. How can that be deactivated or am I stuck with it as long as have a Mazda vehicle. I was also told that if I check the block to connect and then do not activate the app or online account it would still continue to ask. Does anyone know how to deactivate this? Sorry if this was a bit too long!

All modern cars already collect and store that information, though not all actually transmit it, but it is still readily available.
To turn it off, you must call Mazda customer care @ 1-800-222-5500 and request to disable all data collection.
Or you could try this, but I have no idea if it actually works or what it will actually do, and I take no responsibility if you choose to do this.

- Press and hold the Mazda Connect power button to turn off the system and the screen.
- Press and hold the button again to turn the system back on.
- This will supposedly effectively disable the Mazda Connect feature in your vehicle. It may also render some functions unusable.
Thanks for the info. I did contact Customer service by phone and what I listed is what I was told. Your either connected or you will be hounded to death to get connected no in between. Thanks again and have a good day!
