Default Cabin Air / Engine Air Filters

I change the cabin air filter and the engine air filter in our 2014 Mazda CX-5 every year. I’ve always used genuine Mazda parts.

I just read an article that activated charcoal cabin air filters are better than standard and the article recommended EPAuto filters at Amazon. They are cheaper but I don’t know if the quality gap will be large.

While looking at the cabin air filters I noticed there were better prices on engine air filters.

Let me know your thoughts.

I guess my question would be , IF there is a gap in quality what result of this gap would you be expecting for a cabin air filter? And that is only IF there is a gap ..

I bought this one for my 2016.5. As far as I could tell it seems as if it's a quality filter. At least as good as the OEM.

Most all cabin filter work well. I would recommend to buy either a K&N (lifetime) and clean it regularly or to buy inexpensive cabin filters and change it at least every other month (or new each season) more often if the air is bad like in my case Northern California and all the fires over the summer I was cleaning my cabin filter weekly.

There is no way to effective tell the quality unless you pull your blower motor and see what bypassed the filter.
Speaking of ...I highly recommend to do a HVAC cleaning every year. It is easy for DIY with a kit and takes about 45 minutes. Unless some of you like the sour smell in your cars?

Yep, washable, 10 yr warranty. Electrostatic. $40. Cleaning kits available. On their web site is a long description.

I'll be adding one next cabin filter change

Just installed the K&N Cabin Air Filter. Very high quality. Easy to install yourself - 5 minutes, including emptying out the clutter in my wife's car's glove box.
