A bit surprised by CORK SPORT down tube
I installed a CORK SPORT down tube on my 2019 GT Reserve turbo recently and to my surprise it actually made a very noticeable difference in improving the throttle response. Maybe the drop-in K&N air filter helped a bit as well as the 1/3 tank of 100 octane gas, in which I regularly indulge. But power and throttle response are different. Good throttle response in a turbo is rare.
Upon removing the OEM down tube I found it as CS described it, a wimpy "dishrag" of rubber with ONE layer of fabric reinforcing as opposed to the very stiff CS siliconized rubber down tube with FIVE layers of fabric reinforcement. So yeah, the CS down tube is worth the $80.+
And likely the CS total turbo pipes and intercooler replacement kit is also worth it in horsepower improvement. But I ain't getting it - I think.

my question exactly! Can a novice perform this? What kind of tools do you need? Can you do it on two jack stands in the front and chock the wheels in the back?

It took me an hour to remove the OEM tube and install the CS tube with their aircraft style hose clamps. Getting everything exactly in place was the most time-consuming part. As I worked on it I thought, "Well if it doesn't help at least it looks better!" ;o)
As I mentioned, happily it did work.

CorkSport provides detailed with picture installation on everything they sell. They also give the approx. DIY experience level to install them as well exactly what tools are needed. Naturally you have to decide what experience level you have by first reading the installation instructions and looking at the pictures.
Having installed and couched a few on almost every part they offer there is only a few that may require a little more knowledge and experience working on engine or suspension upgrades needed to do the job.
CorkSport also has a fantastic reputation for customer service and will help anyone through any installation of their parts!

No, everything is done from the top side. Wear thin mechanics' gloves and a long-sleeved shirt B/C you will be working in very tight spaces.
When you get the OEM down tube out and compare it to the CS tube you will see the high quality of the CS tube. As well the CS aircraft style hose clamps are of high quality. Do not use the old hose clamps. Make sure you position the CS clamps so the tightening nut is easy to reach if removal is needed (as when you spring foe the entire turbo tubing and intercooler)!!

No need to wear a hot long sleeve shirt.
