Correct. It will hold the car for 2 seconds before releasing the brakes and rolling backwards.

My car has no button to turn on/turn off this feature. It's on all the time as far as I can determine.

That isn't what the OP is asking about. The current gen has a feature where by when the button "AUTO HOLD" is activated, you can come to a stop, say at a red light, and take your foot off the brake as you sit there. The car won't move until you press the accelerator.
