Anyone get discounts on a new CX-5?
No discount on mine that I bought in late March 2023. It had only been on the lot for 7 days with many arriving pre-ordered in my metropolitan area. Good side however was that there were no dealer added accessories that tend to be the norm in many auto dealerships these days. Glad my dealership doesn't play those games.
Or even look in an adjoining state. Sometimes it's worth a drive (or flight).
Utilize CarGurus, Cars.com, AutoTrader, and Carfax. Between the four, I've had the best luck with CarGurus.
2023 CX5 $500 off MSRP at Schomp in Denver about 2 months ago
Mcdonald dealership potentially offered more, they offered a disc and then added mandatory optional items i did not want, I did not trust their approach.

Two days ago I bought a 2023 CX 5 Carbon with 1 mile on it in Everett WA, USA. $1500 under MSRP, 0.90% financing for 3 years. $200 doc fee and no other add ons. The dealer had 170 CX 5s on the lot. I love the car although the low(ish) profile tires and 19 inch wheels make for a slightly stiffer ride than my 74 year old body likes. Cheers.
I purchased from McDonald Mazda North in Longmont, Colorado on July 15, 2023. I paid MSRP and added the splash guards, rear bumper protector, heavy duty floor mats and cargo mat and cargo area cover at no additional cost.
I apologize for an error in my original post. The dealer that I bought from at the time of my purchase had170 CX 5s on the lot and in transit (according to their websites). They had about 90 on the lot at the time I purchased my CX5. After deciding I wanted a CX 5 in March of 2023 I created a spread sheet on CX5 inventory/in transit vehicles at the major dealers in my area - western Washington. I followed the numbers of vehicles in transit and on the lots of my target trims for 3 months. Checking the inventories 2 or 3 times a week on line I was able to follow trends in dealers supply (assuming the numbers on their websites were accurate). Most dealers had 30 -100 cars on their lots at any one time, and even though Mazda was reporting excellent sales of CX5s the on the lot numbers did not decline much over the 3 months that I followed them. In late April it became apparent Mazda was not going to discontinue the CX5 this year - thus no steep discounts for awhile. In addition inventories started to drop slightly and I needed a new car (see below). I called and visited 5 dealerships with the highest inventories. Most dealers were offering 0 to $1900 off MSRP depending on the trim (higher the price - higher the markdown) Unfortunately most of the dealers that I visited wanted to add useless aftermarket products that I did not want. At the time Mazda USA was offering $500 off if you were in the military, but not if you were a veteran as I am. Mazda USA also offered 0.9% financing - which I qualified for. In late April I called the Mazda dealer in Everett WA and they offered me $1500 off MSRP on any CX5 as well as the cheap financing. In late April I drove 30 miles to the dealership and they did just what they said they would. No BS add ons or high pressure stuff. Walked out in an hour with a Carbon edition with the Bose sound system. I did have to pay the WA state sales tax of about 10%, standard licensing fees, and $200 doc fees. No way legally around the first two add ons, and the $200 doc fee seems pretty standard. I had no trade in. My daily drive 2011 Nissan Leaf with the airbag warning light illuminated and a range of 35 miles on a good day was not worth talking about with them. I checked many other dealers in multiple states and found no deals approaching the one offered in Everett. Seems to me that for whatever reason the western Washington dealers just have a lot of vehicles. I don't think I did anything smart, I just happen to live in an area with high CX5 inventory and a few honest and motivated dealers. I'm sorry if I bored you with all this info. I really like the vehicle and find it fun to drive. Getting 30 MPG mixed urban/freeway - driving like an old man.
