Alright so just got the 2016 CX-5 touring. I would like to throw out the stock speakers and get some new ones put in while keeping the stock headunit. What is a good DSP for this vehicle? With four 6×8 speakers in the doors, two 3.5" speakers in the dash and two subwoofers do I need an 8 channel DSP? And lastly can I put a third 3.5" speaker in the center of the dash? Pretty sure there is no speaker in there at the moment because I don't have the Bose system. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the LC6i in my 2012 Mazda 3 running 4 door speakers thru a Amp under the seat and an Amp& Sub in the boot.

Ya I was eye balling these ones. Seems like a good way to go especially with the 8 channel. Each speaker uses a channel. What about the subwoofer though? Do they use only 1 channel for 2 subs?

 

I'm using 1 channel for my sub, as Ive only got a 1 channel amp running the 1 sub.

I don't know if you were to run two Subs if you would use 1 channel & split it or use two channels.

I'm no car audio expert, but I know a bit, and this is my 4th car with a sounds upgrade.

 

I chose the LC6i, as it takes the input signals from the factory 4 speaker channels & creates outputs to run the four speakers plus an sub.

 

That makes total sense to me. The only thing that is a pain is the speakers on the dash. I pretty much need another amp for the 2 of those 3.5" speakers, I believe. I would need two 4 channel amps and one mono block. Would be only using 2 channels on the one 4 channel amp though. I think that's how it works with the setup. So as you suggested the 8 channel DSP from Audio Control would be a good option

 

Looking at the Australian CX-5 workshop manual the speakers in the dash just above the air vents are in fact tweeters. & only the Bose system has the center speaker & D pillar speakers, there may or not be wiring to the centre speaker, & how would you run it? eg all the channels would be LHS or RHS.

The tweeters run of the same channel as the LF or RF door speakers.

 

Ya probably wouldn't even bother with that. I don't think it would be worth the hassle. You would need a fairly specific piece of equipment to create a center channel for the middle tweeter probably. 6 speakers are more than I'm used to anyways.
