2023 Factory Extended Warranty Options
Anyone waiting to change/service the Transmission until 100000 miles is just asking for trouble. IMHO the trans fluid and filter should be changed every 40000 miles or 4 years as well as the coolant and thermostat ,inspecting the hoses and replacing as needed. Brake fluid should be also changed at 40000 or 4 years or sooner in a humid /wet climate .It goes without saying the oil and filter should be changed with proper spec synthetic oil and filter at 5000 miles or less. I have no clue why Mazda would claim the trans service/fluid is life time ,other than they may want it to fail and cause you to purchase a new vehicle. Spend the money on proper service by a competent tech/mechanic ,and you more than likely won't need an extended warrantee. We had a 2005 Chevy HHR we used as a loner car we bought used with 26000 miles on it from Enterprise that we serviced properly and it was running great with the original trans and motor at 286000 miles and 10 years old and if it wasn't totaled in a crash by a customers drunk son ,it may still be running . True story , now it had it's share of power steering rack ,alternator, starter ,AC problems and power window failures ,but that was a common problem with HHR's .
I do wish however that members (not any one particular on this forum) on various forums stop comparing MAZDA's to other platforms ?
But see.. you and a few others on forums are the small percentage of individuals that know a little more about preventive maintenance. Sorry to say but if I had to guess 90% of people owning vehicle DON"T. I do want to point out that MAZDA is not the only company that states life time and no service needed on their transmissions.
Below picture as one of many vehicle manufactures more then just Mazda about the lifetime no service!!! my BMW 2008.
We have surmised that MAZDA no service for lifetime is 100k miles and 5-7 years when the warranty expires. Hmmmmm.... that extended warranty look well worth at least looking into for some?
I should add that there was a few cases that individuals changed their fluid and had transmission problems. BMW inticially refused to warranty the transmission and claimed that the owner/shop did not use BMW fluid. It was shown that the fluid used meet the requirements of BMW. BMW had to replace the transmission completely! Moss act really works!
Don't worry it was not my BMW . LOL

I had a new 2008 M3 E92 DUEL CLUTCH AUTO that I got for my 2nd wife Carol , it was a real hoot to drive .She ended up with it in the divorce along with a 2500 SQ ft house in Anthem . In a way it worked out ,because she found out BMW stands for BUST MY WALLET .

For the RECORD I have never purchased an extended WARRATY.
I will state that when it was offered to me it started when the factory WARRATY expired. I think most are like that?
I get offers at least every week talking about my factory warranty going to expire and to get an EXTENDED WARRATY.
I do frequently work on (customers) vehicle's that their factory warranty had just expired, and the customers wished then they had purchased the extended warranty.
Accordingly I asked a business attorney once about them and he said you have to read carefully exactly what the warranty does cover in detail!
I will also add that as your Mazda or any other vehicle is very close to its warranty expiring to get your vehicle completely inspected from the dealer. And if you intend to keep the car longer it may even be a good idea to have it independently inspected. If there is anything questionable that would be the time to get it taken care of. Or buy an extended warranty plan. LOL

Well information varies. Mopst of the time with you? LOL Mazda offered the extended warranty to me that would start after the factory warranty.
You can call them and ask them about it if you like. LOL
As always your information is somewhat shallow in nature. Many none dealer extended warranty plans also work in that fashion as well. Thats why almost every mailer say your factory warranty is about to end get covered. ROLMAO.. You just need to be clear with what you are purchasing.
chick I am not going to argue with you, I do automotive related work Dailey for a living and have for over 40 years now what is it that you do??? LOL

No 2 ways about it ,it's a gamble either way . Either your betting against your self, or for your self. Me I prefer to do my gambling at a casino or sports betting ,at least you know if you won or lost in a hurry.

Hi folks -
Took delivery of a new CX-5 in March and loving it!
The buying experience was less than ideal; ugly might be a better term. Had we been quoted a reasonable price, we might have actually bought the factory extended warranty.
Over in Honda-land, there are a couple of authorized dealers that will sell a factory extended warranty, after the fact, at a more reasonable price with quoted prices freely quoted on their forums.
Does anyone know of similar options here in Mazda-land; i.e., Mazda dealers offering after-sale factory extended warranties at fair prices?
Thanks!
