Default 2021 GTR & USB Music

Is there a way to access the music on my USB memory stick from the CarPlay screen, or do I need to exit to the Mazda menus first?

CarPlay is specific to accessing files and services on the iPhone. If the files were on the phone itself, they would be accessible. However, if the USB stick is connected to the USB separate from the iPhone it will require that you change to the Mazda infotainment menus to access those.

My conclusion as well, but thought I would ask anyway. Still getting used to the differences with the 2021 infotainment and that in my Bose 2016 MX-5 without CarPlay.

On my 2021 CX30, I had to format the stick using FAT32 format. Once this was done I then load the music to the stick. As per the above I played the music via the Entertainment opion.

Way easier to just add the music your phone and play it via Carplay. I use an app called jetAudio+ and the interface is excellent through AndroidAuto.

Default Thanks + Sirius Question...

Thanks but iPhone music is all compressed. Since I went to the trouble of putting everything in .wav format on the USB stick I'll put up with the minor inconvenience.

Another audio question... My new car was delivered to me on 4/11. Yesterday I got around to exploring Sirius (free 3-month subscription) for the first time, and I find that I only have 9 weeks left. It seems to have started the trial on delivery day, even though I've never done anything to activate it. Is that how it works, or did the dealer activate it on delivery? It was never mentioned at the time.

Thanks.
