2021 CX-5 Signature squeak or groan in reverse
Hey folks,
My new used CX-5 is making some concerning sounds when I put it in reverse and back up, it sounds like a low rubbing or groaning noise and distinctly not a high pitched brake squeak. When I back out of the driveway in the morning the noise is quite noticeable and makes passengers concerned of what it could be so I can't really ignore it and also worry about the long term impact of a noise like this if left unmonitored.
Context about the car: Bought used from Niello Acura up near Sacramento, CA (Roseville), the original sell date was circa Jan 2020, my purchase date was May 15th 2022, and my current mileage is 35,804 ( I drove the last 4k miles). Just got the oil changed, the Carfax is in good standing, and it has only had oil changes up until now.
I think I'm still very slightly within my general warranty and definitely within my powertrain warranty by a fair margin. Could this noise be related to transmission components? Could it really just be the brakes? I've never heard a brake squeak like this before and I believe it could be coming from under the hood so I'd like to get this isolated within 200 miles and within the next three months in case it's a part malfunction.
Any thoughts? I could really use some help from more seasoned motorheads and mechanics alike to diagnose the issue or get some pointers on how to narrow down to find the exact cause, that way I can set my expectations for whether or not this is covered and take it to the mechanic with a more informed brief!
Thanks everyone, really appreciate the help and the time.
