Default 2021 CX-5 alarm system

I recently purchased a CPO 2021 CX-5 GTR. The dealership would not sell the vehicle without a third party (KARR) security system and said the CX-5 does not come with an alarm.
Come to find out, the manual suggests the vehicle already has a security system. I had the dealership remove the KARR system because I do not trust that company and don't want their product in my CX-5.

Upon removal, the stock alarm does not seem to function as specified in the Theft-Deterrent section of the manual (pg. 3-48 2021-cx-5-owners-manual.pdf). I tried testing by locking the vehicle from inside, verifying the system was armed via the in-dash indicator, and opening the door.

My questions are :
1) Is there a stock alarm system in the 2021 CX-5 GTR?
2) Am I testing it correctly?
3) Was the stock system simply not reconnected when the dealer took out the KARR third party system?

Not sure how long you waited or why you would want to test the system while still in the vehicle.
If yours has the overhead sensors it will not function properly if you are moving.

The system will disarm if one of the following operations takes place within 20 seconds after pressing the lock button:
  • Unlocking any door.
  • Opening any door.
  • Opening the bonnet.
  • Switching the ignition ON.

What would be your suggested protocol for how to test the system?

Lock the vehicle once you are outside of it.
Put the key fob out of transmitting range and then see if you get in the vehicle without setting off the alarm.

I'm totally confused now.
I thought you trying to see if your audible alarm system works.
What is it you are actually trying to do?
Get in the car without setting off the alarm?
Get out of the car without setting off the alarm?
Or seeing if the alarm goes off if someone is trying to break in without the fob/key?

i’m trying to confirm an alarm is or is not installed by performing an action that should trigger the alarm.

Lock it. Move the FOB far enough away from the vehicle so it won't detect it. Open the door with the key.
