Default 2020 cx-5 shifting noise

I have a 2020 cx-5 grand touring with 55k miles. There is a chirping sound when the car changes gears usually around 35mph and up. It has been taken too a Mazda dealer
for service and I explained the noise to them. The service tech after checking the transmission for codes and a test drive I assume, said that the noise was coming from the dash. The service
Advisor said that it would be an hourly charge for them to disassemble the dash to try and find the noise.
The noise does not come from the dash!
Has anyone had this problem? I want to get it resolved before the warranty on the transmission is up.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Welcome to the forum.

You need to give better details about the sound ...
The MPH it occurs?
The RPM it occurs ?
Is it in all or specific gears?
Has the transmission ever had the fluid and filter changed?
Does the noise occur if you manually shift the transmission?
Does the noise occur in sport mode?
Is the noise loud enough that you can do a short video hearing it specifically and can post it?

guessing ... why do so many members on forum threads without all the information ? It really makes helping solve a mystery noise more troublesome when members are looking in the wrong place! LOL
It is doubtful on this year and model Mazda. The mounts are design to support induvial if one starts or fails. The changes of metal scrapping sounds would be a first time report. See the mount design and the locations. Now if you better meant that an exhaust bushing failed that would be more in line with some noises. But as the Mazda service department did not hear them this supports more what I said about the mounts. Engine mounts failing or failed on most all platforms are not intermittent.

The Mazda engine compartment is filled with some of the most mechanical noises ever produced by a gasoline engine. That is IMHO! LOL

Not saying it is the mounts ,but it's free to take a look at the and eliminate them as the cause. Maybe a clearer explanation of the chirping sound and it's approximate location is in order. Where does it sound like it is emanating from ? I myself have often noticed an annoying sound emanating from the vicinity of the passenger seat when i drive aggressively or speed .

Yes but.... they would be so far on the end of possibilities based on the limited first information. Read what the op said in the first post again specifically about the dealership service department!
If the clues are so few then one must take those that are presented and make the best course to follow to find the solution! maybe that was said by Data (as Sherlock Holmes) on Star Trex IDK hahahahaha!

B4 I would spend a couple hundred dollars on ripping the dash apart, I would get a young woman between 18 and 25 with good hearing to take a ride in the vehicle with me and see where she thinks the sound is coming from. Most it would cost for her opinion is a lunch .Some of the tech's at dealerships now a days aren't too swift ,and just looking for some easy rate book hour jobs.

LOL you do realize that some dealerships have a sound finding diagnostic tool/equipment/instrument (I am not sure how it is categized, but it is expensive, or I would have one) . Ford actually has a service part number for it and had to manufacture one a few years ago to find anomalous sounds on one of their most popular models.

I never said anything bout the das but as you bring it up again because the first post I responded with until those are answered I would generally not rule out anything even your thoughts theories and guesses
I would never trust having a none experienced individual and only a few DIY or service professional locate a sound or identify it. .... and NEVER as you put it "young woman between 18 and 25 with good hearing" (or male ) "LOL!

As for what the OP said pertaing to the dealership and the dash, if the service department did tear it apart and did not find the exact cause of the sound they would be hard-pressed to collect a fee and if they attempted it would easily be challenged! It reads IMHO as a service adviser or a newbie or inexperienced service employee, suggested that plan of action and not a veteran service technician or mechanic? Big difference.

It's a well known fact that young women have great hearing for high frequency sounds . And yes I'm aware there are specialized tools for this. How ever in my old age I have developed a deep abiding respect for a dollar ,and always try what is free and logical first . I like to spend my money on many things other than the dealerships overpriced labor rates. If it is indeed in the dash, it won't be under warrantee and is likely to cost at least 4 or 5 hours of labor at $120.00 an hour plus any parts needed, and there is no guarantee that will solve the problem. In that case ,i would either attempt to find it my self or find a good shop with a more reasonable labor rate. Just exactly how loud is this chirp sound to begin with ? And this statement by the OP is curious The service tech after checking the transmission for codes and a test drive I assume said that the noise was coming from the dash. Did the Tech in fact test drive it ? The OP says The noise does not come from the dash I would have to ask to get a cost of repair that would solve the problem in writing B4 just giving the go ahead for the repair. IMHO if he doesn't want to see if he cant locate the area the chirping sound is coming from him self , it is time to bring it to another Mazda dealer and have them take a look at it .A second opinion is in order. At any rate I have to get off the internet and check on some beef ribs I put in the smoker at 6 am this morning.
