2020 cx-5 shifting noise
I have a 2020 cx-5 grand touring with 55k miles. There is a chirping sound when the car changes gears usually around 35mph and up. It has been taken too a Mazda dealer
for service and I explained the noise to them. The service tech after checking the transmission for codes and a test drive I assume, said that the noise was coming from the dash. The service
Advisor said that it would be an hourly charge for them to disassemble the dash to try and find the noise.
The noise does not come from the dash!
Has anyone had this problem? I want to get it resolved before the warranty on the transmission is up.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Welcome to the forum.
You need to give better details about the sound ...
The MPH it occurs?
The RPM it occurs ?
Is it in all or specific gears?
Has the transmission ever had the fluid and filter changed?
Does the noise occur if you manually shift the transmission?
Does the noise occur in sport mode?
Is the noise loud enough that you can do a short video hearing it specifically and can post it?

It is doubtful on this year and model Mazda. The mounts are design to support induvial if one starts or fails. The changes of metal scrapping sounds would be a first time report. See the mount design and the locations. Now if you better meant that an exhaust bushing failed that would be more in line with some noises. But as the Mazda service department did not hear them this supports more what I said about the mounts. Engine mounts failing or failed on most all platforms are not intermittent.
The Mazda engine compartment is filled with some of the most mechanical noises ever produced by a gasoline engine. That is IMHO! LOL
guessing ... why do so many members on forum threads without all the information ? It really makes helping solve a mystery noise more troublesome when members are looking in the wrong place! LOL

If the clues are so few then one must take those that are presented and make the best course to follow to find the solution! maybe that was said by Data (as Sherlock Holmes) on Star Trex IDK hahahahaha!
Yes but.... they would be so far on the end of possibilities based on the limited first information. Read what the op said in the first post again specifically about the dealership service department!

LOL you do realize that some dealerships have a sound finding diagnostic tool/equipment/instrument (I am not sure how it is categized, but it is expensive, or I would have one) . Ford actually has a service part number for it and had to manufacture one a few years ago to find anomalous sounds on one of their most popular models.
I never said anything bout the das but as you bring it up again because the first post I responded with until those are answered I would generally not rule out anything even your thoughts theories and guesses
I would never trust having a none experienced individual and only a few DIY or service professional locate a sound or identify it. .... and NEVER as you put it "young woman between 18 and 25 with good hearing" (or male ) "LOL!
As for what the OP said pertaing to the dealership and the dash, if the service department did tear it apart and did not find the exact cause of the sound they would be hard-pressed to collect a fee and if they attempted it would easily be challenged! It reads IMHO as a service adviser or a newbie or inexperienced service employee, suggested that plan of action and not a veteran service technician or mechanic? Big difference.
