2018 Mazda CX5 power liftgate won't close
Not too long ago, my Mazda CX5 liftgate started beeping - apparently some sort of lift-gate alarm. I was able to figure out how to stop the alarm, but now, the liftgate always thinks it's closed. When I open the liftgate manually all the way to the top, and press the "close" button, the liftgate will close slightly - maybe 5 inches of motion, close the latch, and stop. I'm thinking the liftgate thinks it's closed when it's actually not, but I have no idea how to fix it. Any thoughts?
In addition, I'm getting an error on my dash saying "blind spot monitor sensor malfunction" Perhaps the two are related if it's a CAN line malfunction, but again, i'm unsure.

My advice would be to book it in with Mazda.
The power liftgate uses either the rear park sensors or the BSM sensors to protect the tailgate from impact if you are parked too close to another vehicle or solid object ( ie a wall )
