Default Auto liftgate won't close

Hi guys,
I'm new. I have 2012 CX-9 Touring. The auto liftgate will open remotely and otherwise but it won't close when I use the dash button, FOB or the auto button on the liftgate itself. It acts like it is about to and then beeps like there is something in the way. Are there sensor points to check? Any other advise? It doesn't seem like anything is in the way or obstructing the struts. Thanks in advance! Jeff

It will. It will even open with the fob or the buttons. It just won't close that way.

There are sensors that makes sure nothing is in the way.

I have seen issues with this system before.

Is the Vehicle still under warranty?

Take it to Mazda for a code check ( yes there are DTC's for the power tailgate)

Thanks! Some things I'm reading is that insulation gets caught up in the worm gears and makes it seem like there's an obstruction. I will probably take it to the dealer.

The last 1 I worked on was a internal fault in the motor.

My tailgate latch is perma-locked. The tailgate is open which means I can't close the tailgate. Can anyone answer this with a solution?
