Service can't fix the problem without corporate intervention. One thing I recently discovered is: the transmission has been modified to compensate for the loss of 2 cylinders. There is something called a "fulcrum" that is supposed to engage, ensuring a smooth idle. Say what? I believe this is a major part of the sloppy drivetrain issue and brain-dead shifting logic. I seriously doubt the software alone will rid us of this evil.

 

Hi, all, new to this site. Tried to make sure this question isn't already answered. I just bought a 2018 CX-5 GT and I'm seeing all the concern about recalls and jerky behavior, and I'd like to find out if my particular model has CD or not, only because I read somewhere that the CD feature was actually brought on in mid-2018 and I don't know when mine was originally sold. There is no mention of CD on the window sticker. When I go to the Mazda Recall sheet, it just says 'Closed'. I don't know if that means my car has CD and the software was updated. I'm hoping there's a way to tell with the VIN whether my car has CD or not, since a deep Google search hasn't produced any articles showing how to tell. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

 

As far as I know all 2018 model years have CD. If you search for your recall on this site https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls and it shows 0 recalls, then it means it has been fixed by a Mazda dealer. Hope this helps.

 

Just re-read your post, we bought our 2018 CX-5 in January 2018 and it had CD
